Julian Opie, born in 1958 in London, is known for his instantly recognisable portraits that combine aspects of Pop Art and Minimalism with a holistic modern sensitivity. ‘The process of reading things as a simulation of reality but simultaneously realising that it’s real is the focus of my work’, says Opie.
